9 weeks

On Saturday I was 9 weeks pregnant with Baby Crawford #2 or Festus as Auntie Abby and Nannie like to call her/him! Life has been progressing as normal and sometimes I almost forget I am pregnant since I am feeling well and not showing. Here are the highlights from this week:

Weight Gain: none to my knowledge but every scale I get on is different!

Sleep: I wake up a few times at night (usually seems like it is because something is on my mind). When I sleep though it is usually very restful. I am pretty tired some days and usually go to bed when Matney does.

Cravings: food has started tasting good again and smelling better after a few weeks of aversion. No real cravings at this time. Just making myself eat healthier than with Matney to watch the good ole’ weight gain.

Maternity Clothes: a couple of pairs of pants just because they are looser and more comfortable. Other clothes are still fitting, just a little snugger around my lower belly.

Best moment of the week: telling the social media world via FB and the blog that we were expecting a baby.

Gender: still unknown, hopefully we will find out towards the end of March!!

Size: this week our little one is the size of a grapeDue Date: September 1, 2012.

We're having a baby...

The first test!
After a few weeks of what appeared to be “I think I could be pregnant” symptoms, I decided to take a pregnancy test on December 30th while I was at home all day alone. I had one spare left from before Matney up in the closet so I woke up early that morning and peed on the lovely little stick. A faint positive and negative sign came up; confirming my suspicions that I was pregnant again. Since it was so faint, I was a bit untrusting so I threw on some scrubby clothes, grabbed my Wal-Mart list and headed out. As I made my way down the feminine aisle as Wal-Mart I was concerned about who I might see, so I quickly grabbed a box of 3 tests and stuffed them under my purse. (I had a slight fear that the surveillance camera was going to pick me up and think I was stealing, but I didn’t care because I didn’t want someone to see the box and say something before I had even told Brandon what I thought was going on). I sped through Wal-Mart and grabbed my other items, I rushed to the car and drove straight home. I dropped my bags and went straight to the bathroom and peed on the lovely little stick again (a digital one this time).  Within seconds the life changing little “pregnant” appeared!! I was kind of shocked, but every excited so I texted Brandon and asked if he was coming home for lunch since it was my last day home on vacation. He said he would and would grab us something to eat. Little did he know what he was getting himself in to.

And the second confirmation test!

Brandon arrived home about 11:45 and I went to the bathroom to “wash my hands” but really went to get the test. He was already sitting down so I walked up behind him and placed it in front of him. He let out a sigh or an “ohhh, gosh” before he tipped his head back to look at me and said something along the lines of “I wondered if you weren’t?”.  I am pretty sure he sat through lunch in a bit of a daze thinking that now he didn’t only have 2 people to take care of but he was going to have 3!

That night we went to my parents to have Christmas with Uncle Brent and Jackie. I put on a good front for several hours of acting like I was just too cold to have a beer or anything else to drink. From time to time I would take a sip of Brandon’s beer so that everyone wouldn’t start to catch on. It wasn’t until Dad asked me if I would help him make the mimosa’s that I realized I was probably skunked on my whole idea to not tell anyone. Lucky for me, Dad walked out of the kitchen about the time I was ready to pour the champagne so I acted like I put a little in my glass but loaded up on orange juice instead! We were all sitting in the living room talking when I looked at Brandon and whispered, “we should just tell them”. While the conversation continued, Dad brought up the idea of going around the room and saying what we were all thankful for (this has become a joke at Christmas after Dad played this little game on Brandon during our first Christmas). When it got to my turn I looked at Brandon and then said “I am thankful that we are going to have another baby this summer!” I got a few blank stares at first and then lots of congratulations. Then they said, “what are you doing drinking a mimosa” to which I replied, “the bar tender can always mix the drinks just how they want them”.

I went to the doctor for the first time on January 12th for my blood work and to complete all the lovely paperwork. Then on January 20th, Mom went with me to have my first ultrasound and physical. We got to hear the sweet little heartbeat of the baby going strong at 160 bpm. Based on the ultrasound and the size of the baby, they changed my due date from August 24th to September 1st.

We are so excited to bring a new little life in to our family this summer and cannot wait to see Matney grow in to a wonderful big sister.

Whose crazy kid is this?

This silly girl is in to everything and such a joy.  Though the house is often covered in toys or some kind of mess she has created, I am always thankful to have such a healthy, sweet, and playful girl.

Matney the monkey!

She loves to wear Momma's shoes!

Fixing her hair and putting on her makeup!  Such a girlie girl!

Talking on the phone!  Ms. Sue fixed her hair!

Farm Girl

Shortly before Christmas we had some nice days so we went outside to play.  Matney didn't have any coveralls to keep her clean and warm so Daddy bought her a pair.  As you can tell she is very proud of them!

She loves to go outside and help Daddy on warm days so on New Years Day they bundled up and headed out to feed the cows and play on the Ranger.

I sure do love these two cuties!

Such a cute pair!

Brother-Cousin

Kennon and Matney have really started to enjoy each other in the last few months and often times, I will hear "Ennon, Ahhhby?"  when Matney is wanting Kennon or Abby.  When we go to Mom and Dad's it isn't uncommon for Matney to walk in and say, "Ennon?" thinking he is always going to be there for her to play with.  Their silly antics have really been cracking us up lately.  One day when we were baking for Christmas they both had poopy diapers at the same time and started checking each other out as if to say, "something smells, I think it's you!"

They also recently discovered the built-ins at Mom and Dad's.  Mom had just cleaned them out as if she knew the babies were going to want to play in there.  Kennon was the first to venture in, quickly followed by Matney and Grayson.  Everytime they are all together they come up with something new to do or to get in to. Such cute babies and such good friends!

The boys call Matney their sister-cousin so in exchange we call all of them her brother-cousins.  They all love each other so much and we all love watching them become so close!

Soaking up my baby

The last week of 2011 was so enjoyable for me. I took the week off work and enjoyed some much needed down time to relax and do things around the house that I had been putting off. I kept Matney home a few days from Ms. Sue’s so we could spend time together and play. She was such a good girl!!

On Monday we decided to make home-made play dough and played with it for a long time. It is rather bland looking as we didn’t have any food coloring, but it was fun to play with anyways. Matney didn’t think it tasted so great and made some funny faces.

She is enjoying so many things right now, namely her baby doll, Molly, M!nne Mous*, and Sco*by Doo. She will run around saying “Ooby, where are you” or “ohhh toodles”. After learning those phrases on t.v. she has learned to yell “oh toooodles or wherrreee arrrrre you” when she is looking for something. Cutest think ever!! Santa gave her a kitchen for Christmas so she likes to make Molly and Minnie as well as Momma and Daddy lots of treats. I apparently make a lot of comments when I am changing her because she has started hunting down the wipes to change Molly and will carry Molly around or Molly’s diaper and say “shooo shooo”. She thought Molly needed to be changed the other day so she took her clothes and diaper off and only after I heard the trash can did I wonder what was going on – the clothes and the diaper were in the trash!!

Playdough snowman

My favorite thing that M has started doing all the time is saying “I wuv ew, Mommy” or “I wuv ew, Daddy” completely unprompted. There is nothing like driving home from work, worn out from the day, and your little angel saying in the backseat, “I wuv ew”!

She is such a wonderful blessing and I am enjoying every moment with her!

Intent on watching "Oooby"
